What Happened:
The Council of Europe has opened the first-ever global treaty on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for signature.
This treaty, known as the AI Framework Convention, aims to protect fundamental rights, democracy, and the rule of law in the development and use of AI systems. The goal is to ensure AI systems globally adhere to **strong ethical standards.
Countries including Norway, the UK, the US, and the European Union were among the first to sign the treaty during a conference in Vilnius.
